The Miller Mayr -a moniker of Boston based multi-instrumentalist Michael McLaughlin- is a long-awaited jump into a solo excursion of songwriting after three decades of being a side person in groups like Naftule’s Dream, Klezwoods, and Tall Tale Trio along with the Americana band The CSARs and the indie rock band The Pee Wee Fist. 

After two very hard personal losses and having to return to the states from Canada in April of ’20, McLaughlin picked up his father’s old Gibson and took advantage of the pandemic downtime, to write and record numerous songs. He compiled eleven of these tunes to create the album Sydney River Sky that weaves stories of loss; some biographical, some fiction, some of love, some of friends, some of faith. 

No, it’s not all sad in case you’re wondering.
